Dental Crowns

dental crowns

Sometimes teeth become damaged as we age, whether due to tooth decay, thinning enamel, staining, or breakage. Crowns are one way to restore the look of your natural teeth without having to remove the damaged tooth.

Benefits of Dental Crowns

  • They restore strength and function to damaged teeth.
  • They look completely natural.
  • They can conceal unsightly staining or other damage.
  • They even out your smile.
  • They allow you to salvage a tooth that might otherwise need to be pulled.

Dental Crowns Procedure

The process of getting a crown usually takes several appointments to complete. During your first appointment, some of your tooth’s enamel will be removed so that the crown will be able to fit over it. Your dentist will then take an impression of your mouth so that the custom crown can be created and you’ll be given a temporary crown in the meantime.

In a few weeks, your crown will be ready. You can then return to the dentist and have your temporary crown removed. Your dentist will make sure the new crown fits. If any adjustments need to be made, the crown may need to be sent back to the lab and you’ll need to return in a few weeks. If the crown fits comfortably, your dentist will then seal it into place.
