Dental implants are a very successful and long-lasting treatment for people facing tooth loss. It gives you the freedom to feel and chew just like your natural teeth. However, they are not suitable for everyone. There are many other options available as well, which you can use as dental implant alternatives.

Mini Implants

Mini implants are also known as small or narrow-diameter implants because they are smaller in size as compared to traditional implants. They are typically less than 3 mm in size, whereas traditional implants are twice as large. The most common use of the Mini implant is to save a complete upper or lower denture. They are also recommended for the patients for whom the traditional implants are not suitable as the surgery to place them is less invasive.

All-on-4

All-on-4 is a technique that dentists use to fix a complete set of the upper or lower dentures in place. Your dentist will place four or sometimes six implants into the jawbone near the front of the mouth and use it as a base to attach a set of replacement teeth (denture). This technique requires 1 to 2 visits for planning and preparations. Then 1 to place the implants and temporary teeth. A few more during the recovery period and the last one to place the final denture.

Tooth Supported Fixed Bridge

A fixed bridge supported by natural teeth is one of the most common alternatives to a dental implant. It has a particular use; when only a single tooth needs a restoration. With a fixed bridge, the teeth on both sides of the gap are crowned, and the replacement tooth is fixed between the two crowns. However, there are many issues with this alternative. One such is that it requires much more care and maintenance as compared to a single dental implant.
